MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR BRENDA DARDAR ROBICHAUX

We come together as Houma people to celebrate the continuation of a Houma Nation. We reflect on a year filled with opportunities, a year in which the tribe has been able to step out into the world and share our story on our own terms. From lectures on Houma history and culture at at LSU, to meetings with the French government officials, to presentations at national Native American events, the presence of the United Houma Nation has been announced to the world.

Make sure to register and vote!
Elections are this year. In order for us to have a political voice and influence on tribal, local and national politics, it is important to register to vote. Your registration not only ensures your participation in tribal council elections, presidential and congressional elections but also strengthens the political voice of the tribe.

Miss & Jr. Miss UHN Pageant

The Miss (ages 18—21) and Jr. Miss (ages 14—17) United Houma Nation pageant will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2:00 PM at the Dulac Community Center. Application packets may be obtained at any of the United Houma Nation offices or by calling (985) 475-6640.

Calling of the Tribes Pow Wow

The annual Calling of the Tribes Pow-wow is scheduled for March 19th thru March 21st. Tribal Councilman Thomas Dardar and the pow wow committee invites you to attend; it is a great time of celebration and friendship. For centuries our people have gathered together for events of this kind and Thomas has done an excellent job, over the years, at carrying on this great tradition.
