Do you need help paying utility bills?
Low-income Lafourche residents who need help paying their electric bill may apply for help from a local program.
The Lafourche Office of Community Action will accept applications beginning Jan. 5.
Applicants for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program must meet income guidelines and have children 5 or younger or be elderly or disabled.
Applicants must bring proof of income, driver’s license, gas and electricity bills, Social Security cards and birth dates for everyone in a household.
Applications will be accepted at:
- Martin Luther King Park, 1445 Martin Luther King Drive, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- The former Wal-Mart building Mathews, 4876, La. 1, Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Parish government’s Galliano Annex Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1;30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Elderly applicants should contact their senior center for times or the Council on Aging at 532-0457.
