Martin Luther King, III and Terrebonne Parish President Claudet

The United Houma Nation is a part of the Fifty Communities Network, a coalition of community organizers, organizations, and local leadership with whom Martin Luther King, III has visited, toured, and engaged since the inception of the Realizing the Dream initiative. The UHN communicated with them that the communities Martin had visited several years ago as part of this campaign were virtually destroyed by hurricanes Ike and Gustav. Martin arrived to offer assistance. He witnessed first hand the impacts the hurricanes had on the bayou communities of Terrebonne parish as we brought him throughout the area. He also attended a meeting of the tribal government and parish president about concerns tribal council representatives had for their districts and the UHN.
