V-Day

On April 11th and 12th, many United Houma Nation women attended V-Day: Superlove at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This weekend was dedicated to women and girls of New Orleans and the Gulf South. V-Day is a global movement that is devoted to increasing awareness and stops violence against women and girls. Supporters of V-Day include Jane Fonda, Kerry Washington, Rosario Dawson, Daniella Sea, Donna Karan and many others. Eve Ensler treated women of the Gulf South with free facials, makeovers, massages, aroma therapy treatments, yoga, health exams and information. Principal Chief Brenda Dardar Robichaux and other tribal women were given the honor to open the weekend celebration with a blessing and traditional dance.
