The United Houma Nation Vocational Rehabilitation Program offers employment services for tribal citizens with disabilities. The goal of this program is to assist persons with disabilities in planning for, reaching and maintaining gainful employment. Services may include: • Medical exams by physicians and psychologists • Vocational evaluations including interest, skills and abilities testing • Counseling and guidance • On-the-job training, vocational-technical school certification and/or college • Job placement assistance • Post employment services Services are based on the individual's needs, abilities, priorities and preferences. Counselors work one-on-one with tribal members with disabilties to identify an employment plan of action that works for them.
