LAFOURCHE SUMMER CAMPS

Indian Education in Lafourche Parish is designed to meet the academic and culturally related needs of Indian students.  The staff consist of a Cultural Resource Specialist, a Data Resource Specialist and two paraprofessionals servicing approximately 700 students.

Lafourche Parish's Indian Education program put on another successful summer camp at Bayou Segnette State Park this year. For more information about the camp, check out Crawfish Tales, a daily newsletter put together by staff and students.

TERREBONNE INDIAN EDUCATION

 

The Terrebonne Indian Education program is a dynamic service that provides about 2000 local indian students with various educational resources.

 

The staff is comprised of Kirby Verret, the Support Services Specialist; John Solet, the Drop-Out prevention coodinator; and, Kathy Verdin, the Resource Specialist. The program is also supported by 11 paraprofessionals who tutor at 8 local schools.

 

Each summer the program co-sponsors a summer youth camp with the Louisiana Indian Education Advocacy Committee at Bunkie Louisiana. Already in its 5th year, the camp works to teach students leaderships skills.
