Youth Summer Activities

Posted by United Houma Nation on Sunday, May 18, 2014

As we have done in the last 2 previous years, youth activities throughout the summer are currently being developed.  Last year activities were jam packed and included day trips to tribal communities so that youth could visit one another's communities, volunteer in restoration projects, visit college campuses, etc.  We also appreciated the generosity of the New Orleans Saints who opened their doors and allowed our youth a backdoor view and tour of the training facilities, attended practice followed by a meet and greet with players and gave the opportunity for about 40 of our youth to attend a live game in the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

The 2 current events being planned are an end of the school year bash and a tour of the Nicholls State University Campus.  Space is limited for the NSU tour and we encourage our seniors and recent graduates to SIGN UP as we will be talking about securing financial aid and the deadline for the Fall is quickly approaching.

Plans are currently underway for this summer's activities and we don't want to leave anyone out.  If you have a young man or young lady (age 6 to 18) that wants to get involved, please complete the web form below and we will be in touch.  We also need adult mentors.  If you would like to help with our youth programs, please CONTACT US so that we can discuss your involvement further.  All volunteers must be willing to completed a Louisiana State Police background check as the safety of our youth is our top priority.
