Weaving Healthy Families Project Launched

Posted by United Houma Nation on Wednesday, September 03, 2014

The UHN leadership is pleased to announce the launch of a new study with Tulane University titled "Weaving Healthy Families."  Dr. Catherine Burnette, an Associate Professor at Tulane University is working with the Tribe to study and identify strategies to address family and domestic violence within our communities.  Unfortunately, violence has no limitations by race or ethnicity and the effects it can have on a family as a whole are very real.

By working on this project wtih Dr. Burnette, the UHN intends to utilize the research gathered to develop tribal programs that build up and support families.  Our strength as Native People lies within our families and its time as a people we return to that teaching.  By weaving together healthy families, we are a strong and healthy nation.

If you would like to get involved in this project, please contact Dr. Burnette.  Her contact information is found in the below flyer.
