UHN Youth Council Ballot and Election Scheduled

Following the August 30th deadline, 8 tribal youths have expressed interest in seeking candidacy to the UHN Youth Council.  Below is an introduction to the young people who will be on the ballots:


Tommy Dardar is the current President of the UHN Youth Council.  He is a 9th grader at Houma Junior High.  He is active in band, the gifted and talented program and church.  Tommy is working on developing a Christian Club at his school.

Ashton Verdin a 9th grader at Central Lafourche High School.  He is active in Jr. ROTC, Varsity Quiz Bowl and the Performing Arts Club.  Ashton is an honors student.

Vice President:

Kailyn Creppel is a Senior at John Ehret High School where she is a cheerleader and honor student.  She is active in Jefferson Parish youth activities and assists with Camp 2 Bears summer program for tribal youth.

Ian Verdin is an 8th grader at Montegut Middle School.  He lives in Point aux Chene and currently serves on Student Council.


Anjele Guidry is an 11th grader at Helen Cox in Marrero.  Anjele is the current Vice President of the UHN Youth Council.  She is an honor student and the catcher of the girls softball team as well as active in her church.


Evan Solet is the current Treasurer for the Youth Council.  He is an 8th grader at Grand Caillou Middle School.  Evan has been an active member of the Bayou Eagles and is a fancy dancer and drummer.

The election for these positions will take place from September 14-21, 2014.  Below is the essential information needed to vote in the youth elections.

Who is eligible to vote?  All tribal youth enrolled in the UHN Youth Programs.  If youth are not currently enrolled they can enroll at the time of voting.  Below is the Youth Enrollment Application.

Ballots will be checked to verify enrollment prior to votes being accepted.

How can you vote?  Voting will take place in two ways.  From September 14-20, 2014 an online link will be activated on this website accepting online voting.  Additionally, tribal youth will also have the opportunity to enroll in tribal youth activities and vote at the UHN 6th Annual Disability Awareness Powwow on September 20-21st at the Houma Airbase Pavilion.

The Member-at-Large position will be decided after the election of officers during parish level meetings and elections.  Currently the following youth leaders are seeking election for these positions:

  • Jeremy Authement - Terrebonne Parish
  • Kailyn Creppel - Jefferson Parish
  • Damien Pennison -Terrebonne Parish
  • Ashton Verdin - Lafourche Parish
