UHN Men's Day This Saturday!

Posted by United Houma Nation on Tuesday, October 21, 2014

The time is almost here for our tribal men to gather with friends and loved ones for a day of traditions and celebration. On Saturday, October 25, 2014.  I will be hosting this day filled with traditional outdoor activities at my home in Houma.

  • Activities will begin at 9 A.M. with stickball, blow gun, hatchet throwing, archery, shooting and much more.
  •  At noon will gather for lunch prepared by our tribal women.
  • 12:45 Tribal history - Michael Dardar
  • 1:15 Joe Dardard - Calumet
  • 1:45  Kirby Verret -  Palmetto
  • 2:15 Dale Revelle - Stomp dance
  • 2:45 Cocoa Creppel - Drum
  • 3:15 Grayhawk Perkins - Storytelling

We do not expect everyone attending to know how or be experts at any of the activities.  In fact, many of us will be learning side-by-side.  This event is for UHN tribal men and boys.  As Houma men we have always been providers for our families.  So many of us learned from our fathers and grandfathers how to live off the land.  On the 25th, I hope we can come together and celebrate this tradition and ensure our children continue to learn these skills. There is no fee or cost to attend.

If you are interested in attending, please contact thomas.dardar@unitedhoumanation.org to RSVP.  Yakoke et bien merci in advance for helping preserve our traditions
