The UHN Election Board will be holding a Special Election to fill two vacancies on the UHN Tribal Council. Tribal Districts 5 and 10 are currently vacant and encompass the following areas:
District 5: Terrebonne Parish – The area of Houma (70363) north of Thompson Road along Hwy. 57 (Grand Caillou Road) and Hwy. 315 (Bayou Duarge Road) north of the Intracoastal Canal including all of East Houma, Village East, etc.

Tribal districts are divided by population. What are the expectations of UHN Tribal Council Members?
- Tribal Council Members should be available to attend 10 monthly tribal council meetings on the 2nd Saturday of the month that begin at 10am in the morning. Meetings rotate to various tribal communities; therefore, members should have reliable transportation to and from the meetings.
- Tribal Council Members are also expected to serve on assigned Council Committees held approximately once per month prior to the meetings.
- Tribal Council Members are responsible for maintaining contact with their district constituents to represent them in tribal council decision making and sharing district level issues and concerns with the full Tribal Council.
Anyone interested in seeking election to either of these positions, must meet the UHN Constitution's qualifying requirements. The deadline to qualify is Friday, August 28, 2015 at 4:00 pm. Interested candidates should read the full announcement and download the qualifying packet below. Packets can also be picked up at either the Houma Tribal office or the Enrollment office in Golden Meadow.
