The Saktce-ho'ma Opportunity Fund (SOF) met on Tuesday of this week and Executive Director Robert Lieb laid out an aggressive plan for beginning services. The initial plan is to launch 3 initiatives.
- Forming an American Indian Business Network Alliance for Louisiana
- Creating a Job Board on the Saktce-ho'ma web page
- Financial Counseling Sessions for Individuals
American Indian Business Network Alliance for Louisiana:
The first meeting of interested tribal business owners is scheduled May 1st from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at the UHN Houma Offices located at 991 Grand Caillou Road, Bldg #2, Houma, LA. Coffee and refreshments will be served. All Native American Business Owner's are welcomed to attend. The objective is to establish an all Native business alliance that will benefit, improve and strengthen each business.
Agenda topics will include:
- How your SOF Loan Fund can Better serve your business
- Benefits of an American Indian Business Alliance Program,
- Marketing resources available for your business
- Monthly networking opportunities
- Training initiatives
- Partnership options
- Educational opportunities and much more!

Job Board Initiative:
Saktce-ho'ma Opportunity Fund is introducing its first Job Board Initiative that will provide a link on the SOF "Web Page" within the UHN site. The first posting is scheduled for an April 30th preview date. The objective is to provide Job Opportunities available within the community. Current jobs will be featured from your department of labor workforce initiative, local and area-wide businesses, colleges, etc.

Financial Counseling Sessions for Individuals:
Saktce-ho'ma Opportunity Fund is announcing a financial counseling session for individuals interested in financial literacy, credit repair, home ownership, starting a business, and how to improve their personal finances. The SOF is proposing to offer monthly workshops within these areas of interest.
The first class is an introduction and assessment of financial education needs. It will be held on Wednesday, April 30th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the UHN Houma Office Conference Room located at 991 Grand Caillou Road, Bldg #2, Houma, LA.
