With the heavy rainfall the UHN tribal service area has experienced over the last week, Tropical Storm Gordon is nothing to become complacent reports Principal Chief August Creppel. As of10am CST, Gordon is projected to make landfall Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning on the border of Louisiana and Mississippi. Gordon is currently not projected to gain hurricane strength winds; however, it will be a continued rain event.
Principal Chief Creppel asks that all potentially impacted tribal citizens be mindful of their tropical weather preparations and stay tuned to regular updates. As anyone living in coastal Louisiana knows such events can change quickly so all are urged to practice safety over the next few days until this event is out of area.
Individuals residing in low-lying areas should be attentive to potential risk of rapidly rising water due to heavy rainfall in conjunction with rising tide and potential storm surge. Below are links to monitor Tropical Storm Gordons track as well as parish preparations.
