Earlier this week, the Houma based Krewe of Hercules became a co-sponsor to the UHN's 6th Annual Celebrating ABILITIES Powwow. The powwow, which will take place at the Houma Airbase Pavilion on September 20th and 21st, is dedicated to raise awareness of the many strengths and abilities individuals with disabilities bring to our community. This year's efforts are focused on raising awareness of the effects of diabetes within the community.
The powwow will include Inter-Tribal dancing, singing and drumming as well as regional and local arts and crafts vendors. Additionally, a resource fair will be ongoing throughout where individuals can learn more about diabetes and disability services. Admission is free.
The UHN would like to thank and welcome on board the Krewe of Hercules in bringing awareness to the needs of individuals living with diabetes and disabilities.
