Fundraising Campaign Launched for Next Phase of Repair

Posted by United Houma Nation on Friday, July 08, 2016

Many exciting projects under way in the Tribe these days! Renovations at the Daigleville School is being conducted in stages. The first step was stopping the leaking from the roof which was accomplished thanks to the generous donations and fundraising efforts taking place in 2015 for this cause. Our next phase is to conduct the general repair to allow utilities to be reconnected such as water and electricity. This phase will include replacing broken windows, repairing ceiling and flooring caused by years of leaking from the roof, and updating and repairing plumbing and electrical.

Today the UHN is launching the second phase of fundraising to get the Daigleville property operational for tribal and community use. We are partnering with our friends at 32auctions to conduct an online fundraising drive through August 15th. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for this second phase of repair. In addition, through generous donations from the community we are also holding live auctions to generate the funds needed to reach our goal. The link to visit the site is below.

How can you participate and help? There are several ways you can help us with this effort.
  1. 1. All contributions are welcome and can be sent either through the 32auction portal or directly to the United Houma Nation. For checks and money orders, send contributions to United Houma Nation, PO Box 4217, Houma, LA 70361. Please label all donations for Daigleville Project.
2. Individuals and corporations can make donations of items to include for silent auction online to generate funds. Donations can be dropped off at the UHN Houma Office located at 991 Grand Caillou Road or contact Ms. Maryal Mewherter at (985)791-7147.
