Consul General Brunet Says Goodbye to New Orleans

Posted by United Houma Nation on Sunday, July 06, 2014

Consul General au New Orleans, Jean Claude Brunet has been reassigned by the French Government to Munich, Germany.  Principal Chief Thomas Dardar met with him last week to discuss his re-assignmnet that is effective July 16, 2014.  Mr. Brunet, who has been assigned to the New Orleans post throughout the four years of Principal Chief Dardar's first term, has been not only the UHN's local contact with the French government, but also a friend.

The move to Munich is a bittersweet one for the Brunet family.  The move is a new challenge for Jean Claude who speaks French, English and German fluently as well as it allows his family to be closer to France, where his older son is returning to attend University to advance his studies.  However, he will certainly miss the many friends and extended family he has made while here.  Mr. Brunet was a staple at tribal events and has committed to maintain his friendship with our Tribe across the Atlantic Ocean.

On July 14, 2014, Principal Chief Dardar will be attending the annual French celebration of Bastille Day in New Orleans, where Consul General Brunet will be delivering his farewell address.
