    On Saturday, September 22, 2018, the United Houma Nation will have a fully seated Tribal Council for the first time in a number of years.  Districts 8, 9 and 11 will be filled by first time Council Members.  The meeting will take place at the Dularge Fire Station, located at 1767 Bayou Dularge Road, Theriot, Louisiana.  The meeting begins at 10am with the swearing in of these positions taking place first on the agenda. ..

    Last night the UHN Election Board met and received word that Ms. Renae Berthelot was choosing to withdraw from the District 8 election scheduled to take place tomorrow.  In light of this change, Ms. Gretchen Boudreaux is now the sole candidate for the district seat and is now unopposed.   ..

    With over 17,000 tribal citizens living around the world, the UHN website is a crucial tool to maintain connections with tribal citizens as well as our friends.  Unfortunately due to the changes with the platform that the current site is built upon, a whole new site is needed as the current one will stop functioning by the end of the year.  Current quotes place a complete re-write and maintenance of a new UHN site to be $5,000.  UHN staff recognizing the important function of the site has taken on the task of raising the initial $5,000 needed to make this transition.  Earlier today, the first fundraising event was held with an Indian Taco and grilled corn on the cob lunch sale.  As of the close of business yesterday nearly 200 meals were pre-ordered!   ..

    With the heavy rainfall the UHN tribal service area has experienced over the last week, Tropical Storm Gordon is nothing to become complacent reports Principal Chief August Creppel.  As of10am CST, Gordon is projected to make landfall Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning on the border of Louisiana and Mississippi.  Gordon is currently not projected to gain hurricane strength winds; however, it will be a continued rain event. ..
