Hurricane Katrina/Rita
|
These aerial photos taken in a Coast Guard prop engine plane over the Plaquemines Parish in SE Louisiana on Sept 13 2005.
Here you can see buildings pushed off of thier foundations and still sitting is deep water covered in gas and oil. When and if the government decides to allow residents to return to their homes, there will be little to nothing to salvage.

This flat piece of land is known as the "Village" and was the home of many Houma tribal members. Only an empty road remains now. Not a singe home survived.

Here's a large view of what the Parish looks like. Two weeks after Hurricane Katrina and everything is still underwater.
